Jotr is a Mac app for turning audio and video recordings into work you can actually use. It creates local transcripts, keeps playback and timestamps connected, and helps you review, edit, highlight, summarize, annotate, and export recordings without sending the whole workflow into a cloud workspace.

Most transcription tools end when the raw transcript is created. Jotr starts there. Import an existing meeting, interview, lecture, podcast, research session, video, or client call, then transcribe it locally on an Apple Silicon Mac. After transcription, you can search the text, click a timestamp to hear the exact moment, correct misheard words, highlight useful passages, and add notes where context matters.

Jotr also includes local AI summaries for longer recordings. It can help create an overview, outline, key points, takeaways, and action items, so a long recording becomes easier to scan and reuse.

When the work is ready, Jotr can export the version you actually need: plain text, subtitles, captions, Markdown, Word documents, timestamped notes, highlights, and review materials for writing, research, study, podcast production, meetings, and video workflows.

System requirement: Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 15 or later. Intel Macs are not supported.
